1879 Waynesburg KY map, Doublespring Baptist Church pastor, Reynolds family extract
1879 Waynesburg KY map, Doublespring Baptist Church pastor, Reynolds family extract
from https://www.familysearch.org/library/books/records/item/559293-reynolds-southern-lincoln-co-ky-from-1789?viewer=1&offset=0#page=1&viewer=picture&o=info&n=0&q

Reynolds family history book. Shows where John Thurston Curtis lived in Waynesburg on map 1879. Evidently renting place he purchased in 1880....see deed this site. Also shows that Doublespring Baptist Church pastor at time was John Singleton ("Sing") Reynolds and that JT Curtis as leader of church signs his eulogy tribute. Since this pastor Reynolds also had a saw mill as indicated in this research, and newspaper accounts 1882 this site show the Reynolds/Curtis saw mill moved to Waynesburg....I suspect JT Curtis in business with pastor or relative of pastor , Juey A Reynolds became his daughter in law by marrying his eldest son, Fred P. Curtis. From Juey obit on this site, shows sister named Bertha. Familysearch website shows Bertha father as Major "T"(Tilden) Reynolds. Major Tilden Reynolds was a cousin to John Singleton("Sing") Reynolds the pastor. So Fred P Curtis married daughter of Major Tilden Reynolds who was cousin to pastor John Singleton Reynolds

1884 deed from Andrew Warren to Henry Warren 75 acres
1884 deed from Andrew Warren to Henry Warren 75 acres
Trace of John Colyer home place deed that was sold to Andrew Warren....this is Andrew Warren transferring part to son Henry. Another 1884 deed to son William H Warren, transfers another 56 acres. Have not identified yet where other acres went to total the 200 sold by John Colyer to Andrew Warren. One son of Andrew Warren , Mathew, I have not found any land to him yet. Mathew who was first Ruth Ky postmaster, did purchase some acres across street from heirs of Alexander Colyer by court ordered auction. Not that road is referred to Rockcastle Springs Rd. Based on obituary of Charles Grenade Colyer in Somerset Republican paper 1910, it was later referred to as Sublimity Springs Rd. Earliest records refer to it as Salt Works Rd. After 1910 it was known as Ruth Rd and lately as hwy 192.

1886 Ruth Ky Warren Store ledger
WARNING large 60 meg file: requires high speed: This ledger of the general store at what is now known as Ruth Ky was found in ceiling of old log home renovation 2012. The log house built by John Langdon in 1814, purchased by John Colyer 1842, then purchased by Andrew Warren 1865. Andrew's son, Mathew(born 1859), evidently ran store across the road from the house. The store later became in 1888 the first post office in the community at current day hwy 192 at Pitman Creek in Somerset Ky. The first post office in 1888 known as Juno....later became Ruth Ky. Many area family names in ledger: Colyer, Warren, Richardson, Meece, Botkin, Allen, Sword.

1893 deed James Alexander Colyer heirs court ordered sale of modern day Clay Hill Rd Pitman Creek property to Mathew Warren and John Colyer
1893 deed James Alexander Colyer heirs court ordered sale of modern day Clay Hill Rd Pitman Creek property to Mathew Warren and John Colyer
This researcher has not determined which John Colyer this deed was to, but suspects it was John W Colyer, son of Linsey Randall Colyer by Elizabeth Warren. This John Colyer was raised in the home of Andrew Warren with his uncle Mathew Warren.
This property appears to be land next to Andrew Warren wooded section opposite Colyer/Warren house at Pitman creek that was purchased from John W Colyer Sr heirs in 1865. This land appears to be going along current Strawberry rd. Mathew Warren was an early postmaster of predecessor to Ruth Ky at store he ran at 192 intersection of Pitman creek.

By 1906, the Curtis brothers are building flour mill in Somerset.
